FZS DONATES 5 NEW VEHICLES TO TANAPA

As rhino and elephant poaching numbers reach unprecedented levels, Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) has donated five new Land Rover vehicles to Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) as a commitment to anti poaching efforts in the Serengeti National Park.

The vehicles were presented to His Excellency President of the United Republic of Tanzania Dr. Jakaya Kikwete by the Africa Director of FZS Robert Muir and will be used to expand surveillance and security activities in the Serengeti National Park.

The donation of the vehicles lies under the framework of the Germany Development Cooperation project implemented by KfW and GIZ which symbolizes the fruitful partnership between Frankfurt Zoological Society and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.

In acknowledging the support from FZS, Director General of Tanzania National Parks Allan Kijazi commended the support saying that the vehicles will help support anti-‐poaching efforts in the Serengeti National Park which is also a World Heritage Site.

FZS also donated other six vehicles to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism whereby five were for Selous Game Reserve and one for Maswa Game Reserve.
